New members are encouraged to come and have a look around. Help is at hand to introduce you to the club, complete membership forms and help you in the water if required.
We exist to provide the opportunity for people with a disability to swim to benefit their general health and well-being

One of our swimmers used to swim in the sea, then the began to develop spastic paraplegia. For five years she didn't swim at all until she came to our session in Thingwall. She said we gave her the confidence to swim again! She is a terrific swimmer, very powerful. She goes to a David Lloyd centre now but comes to our session now and again just to support us because of what we did for her.

At Springwood you could be hoisted from your chair onto a changing bed. Change into a costume and then hoisted by sling from the changing roo by a tracking hoist into the pool. Wonderful! Hoist and ramped access into the pool too.

The differences that everyone in pool either has a disability or is with/supporting the person who has a disability and nobody feels awkward in any way. We inspire confidence, offering support and encouragement in a friendly, unthreatening environment.

Local authority pools are sometimes overlooked by a gym or an eating area.Temperature of water is an important factor. Many swimming pools are very seldom is ever warm enough. Also, the facility lacking in providing the suitable equipment and assistance for the disabled person.
